So yeah these past few mornings, I hv been listening to the radio and there are some contests on air which I regularly listen to. One of it is Red FM's KFC AM challenge, where the contestant is supposed to answer 10 qustions in 1 minute. The first 2 questions are usually given out by JD / Dilly even before the contestant is on air (something like a bonus la) - you can sometimes almost tell that KFC and Red FM just WANT to give the money away, especially the '2010' version (one question was "what do you get if you add 1 to 2009)! And they even give out clues if the contestant gets stuck!

So anyway, one of the questions yesterday was "Complete the sentence: The early bird..."

Yes, I hear ALL of you shouting "CATCHES THE WOOORRRRRRRMMMMMM!" Exactly. And the contestant didnt even know! And she's not the only one, there are so so many that really rile me.

Today I was listening to Mix FM's Gender Bender (basically the same old Battle of the Sexes that has been going on since Richard and Syazmin's time), made up of 2 questions for each contestant, with a tie breaker if necessary.

Today, the contestants had to go to a tiebreaker round. The first tiebreaker question was something along the lines of:

(DRUMROLL PLEASE) Who won the football finals in the recent SEA Games? And NEITHER one of them knew the answer!!!!!!!!!

The second tiebreaker question was:

Where is the World Cup going to be held this year. Again, NEITHER one of them knew this.

I dont get it. Whats the point of the newspaper, TV, radio, and the Internet when many of us dont even know the simplest general knowledge questions? Whats the point of having the world at your fingertips and complaining about Streamyx horrible connection when all you do is use it to play online games?

Or maybe my expectations are too high cos if I were stuck on Who Wants to be a Millionaire or Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader, the first person I would call is my sister, who like, knows EVERYTHING. Ok, almost.

I think the world as a whole is no more bothered about goings-on around. It's becoming a very selfish world where no one cares about whats going on where anymore. I'd understand if you said you steered clear of politics (even I dont bother, cos politics in Malaysia is mostly about who's doing who, who's being investigated by MACC, and which God is more important than the other in print space), but general knowledge is so important!

So what do they talk about in mamak shops nowadays? How short the girl's skirt is? What are the features of the latest handphone? MU and Liverpool's score last night?
