Feminism vs Chivalry

Was just thinking about this the other day (not that the topic just popped into my genius mind, it was triggered by someone – but lets not get into that). So I ended up thinking.. hmmmmm.. And I thought. And thought. Well, you get the drift.

My conclusion was that chivalry and feminism don’t contradict each other. But I asked 2 other people about it – a guy and a girl. And they both agreed that feminism and chivalry DON’T contradict each other. But then I asked them to argue their case and when they started off, they were both pretty confident. Then I started playing the devil’s advocate ;-) Yeah, my best role ;-) And BOTH couldn’t defend themselves. Its surprising really.

But I seriously think that there is no reason for a feminist not to ask for chivalry. A feminist is basically someone who thinks of equal rights for women. But just cos she wants equal rights, doesn’t mean she doesn’t like being treated well, like a woman. And equal rights means that she also respects a man and treats him well. Its an interesting debate actually, I wish they’d bring this up in some major debate and broadcast it or something..

Well, wkend was great – filled with compliments that I was bloody floating on the moon.
Moon – hahaha, lost a bloody TGIF bet cos of that ;-(

Excerpts from my wkend:
* You look hot * I feel hot just standing beside you * You have really great moves * You smell great * Anyone would want you * Never ever kill the goose that lays the golden egg * - the best line was the last.. I just couldn’t stop laughing. Thks dude, miss you too ;-)

I Am Muslim

Ok have been wanting to blog for a long long time but could not find the time AT ALL. its either i have a long email to send (dear culprit, you know who you are ;-) or there's always something to do to rush out of the office. So hv SO much to write about.

My latest read is I Am Muslim by Dina Zaman, and it was pretty interesting. Thought provoking even. At one point she says “why is it that I always feel more at home abroad?” interesting sentiment, join the club darling.. and it was thought provoking to read the differences between Muslims in Malaysia and abroad n she also write about nursyifa and prayers and meditation and how there’s this centre in Indonesia which accepts everyone regardless of race/religion/social status, cos at the end of the day, everyone is just trying to be closer to god.

And then there’s this point she touches on abt women and Friday prayers,a lot of ppl think tht women cant pray on Friday and that’s why we only see men at the mosque. But actually its allowed, as usual, everything here is blown out of proportion cos overseas its totally allowed and apparently you can see women praying on Friday with business suits and skirts etc.

Talking about god, was watching man on fire (yes, yet again) and there was this fantastic line where DW is at the point of killing someone and the old guy at the window asks him to have mercy and he replies with “mercy belongs to god, I just arrange the meeting”. Man, that was like the best line in the WHOLE movie ;-) Magnifique ;-)

And there was this story my dad and my sis was dying to tell me about – apparently the story cam out in the papers and its abt this woman driving a pajero la, and there’s a road bully who keeps stopping and braking in front of her and after abt 5 minutes of this, he just slams the emergency brake, and she slams hers too and doesn’t knock him. And before anything else happens, this smart woman is thinking to herself, why is it tht only women get bullied, and so what she does is she reverses her 4wd, rams into the bully’s car til his whole boot is smashed, and drives off to the nearest police station.

And my dad didn’t tell me the last part of the story cos HIS moral of the story was tht I shouldn’t be driving after 10pm (yeah right.. hellllLLLLLOOOOOO), but my sister completed the whole story la.. well yeah she had a different moral of the story ;-) tht suited me fine ;-)

Oh and that remind me, what the fuck is wrong with the matrempits? They go and beat up this guy just cos he’s a foreigner? I mean what kind of fucking reason is that? God, freaks..

Well, I wanna leave, my fabulous wkend is just beginning.
Skol.. ;-)

Lisa's wedding and a whole lot more (if i can remember)

Was looking at pics of Lisa's wedding the other day. They've done up a really nice website, very simple but SO nice. with this romantic song playing in the background and pictures of them and they look SO in love. its almost moving. not like you see normal wedding pics where couples take it just to show they're getting married or to dress up or for some memories or whatever. these were really nice. like they were so IN LOVE, no other way of putting it. their smiles and poses and EVERYTHING. absolutely lovely. my friend was touched too. its like you just wanna wish the best for them. not like you dont wish the best for other couples la, just tht this was really moving. anyway.. darn, seems to bring out the romantic in me :-P

so was driving the other day, rainy wet depressing gloomy monday morning. and my dad heard all the commentary of traffic reports on the radio and was like "drive slowly, its raining everywhere" (and i came to work half an hour late altho i left on time). and the freaking jam was from seremban to nila, usually takes me 15-20 mins from seremban to nilai and this time it took 45 mins! and the cause was 7 chain accidents. i mean SEVEN. well yeah its a perfect number but seriously. how does this happen when EVERYONE knows that when its wet, you dont speed and keep your distance. ok well maybe can speed a little la, but COME ON.. and they were all new cars. what a waste :-P

about books now - just finishing demons and angels, very gripping. to the point tht i try to finish a page at a time at the traffic lights. good read. i have so many books at the moment tht i dont know where to start. i have like 8 books pending. and some cleos from the last few mths (not even the latest)! pending now is: man and boy, i thought my father was god, to kill a mockingbird (read this one already but cant seem to rmbr the storyline), a book by some indian author, the catcher in the rye, i am muslim, sam the magic genie, being muslim and i KNOW there's 1 or 2 more i'm forgetting.

oh well, will keep me occupied for the nest few wks (or months).

p/s: i miss you ;-)
sigh..
