I'm going home..

So i went to the dentist the other day in seremban. and i went on a sunday cos my appointment card (which is abt a year old) states that he's open on sundays. oh btw, my other dentist, he was booked til July. i mean, thats 4 effin months in advance.. is he THAT good? i dont know.

so anyways, i went to this other dentist on sunday not knowing he had changed his schedule and was now closed on sundays. so i waited in my car for a while, then i decided to get down and go closer to see if he had pasted up a new schedule. so i was just peering into the grill and suddenly i hear this shout from the opposite side of the road (if you're not familiar with seremban, imagine jalan masjid jamek but without the crowd). and i turn around and there's this old chinese guy who's gesturing wildly with his hands and saying something like "tadak"..

so i just smile at him to show i understand what he's saying and nod my thanks. and he actually waits for me to get down the steps and cross the road to my car, and continues explaining "dia bukak hari satu sampai enam saja, hari tujuh tutup" and i smile and say ok and nod and all la.
but what strikes me most is the fact that this guy cares enough about a stranger to take the effort to come out of his coffee shop, holler across the road, wait for me to cross before explaining that the dentist was closed. i mean, do u think you would get this in KL? i seriously doubt it. people here just dont care anymore, its more like "you can read the signboards cant you, so why should i interfere?"

but this really kinda touched me, the fact that this town is still slightly untouched by time and people are still willing to help you. and i'm glad i've quit and am going home for a break :-)

Futsalities

Almost forgot to blog till Lilian asked me just now.. Hmmm, so my readership is alive i see :-)

so first things first is the follow up to the "banning motorbikes" blog. was sitting in the island cafe in ss2 one of the days this week and we were sitting in the corner. you know how island cafe has some ropes like fencing along the perimeter of the place? we were sitting nearer to the shop and not the road and beside us (nearer the road) was a group of chinese girls who were playing uno cards. then suddenly we had one of them screech, she went like "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" no kidding, so we turn around and we see a guy with a helmet jumping on a motorbike which his fren was riding and take off. and it was all over in like what, 0.02 seconds?

it was just crazy. and altho the girl had her handbag on the table, i'm not gonna blame her, cos that would be blaming the victim. like how every asshole says that women who dress skimpily deserve to be raped. i mean, the perpetrator is not even SUPPOSED to rape in the first place. or snatch handbags for that matter. why cant everyone leave everyone else in peace? sigh.. i think thats what i like abt developed countries. ok maybe not the US, i'm talking abt europe and nz.

there was once when i was in hastings, a seaside town abt 2 hrs from london, and i dropped my camera and i didnt realise it. and this young guy runs up to me (and i get worried cos i tot tht he's gonna snatch my bag or something seeing i'm a foreigner), but he was running after me to return my camera! and i was so speechless that i was tongue tied and he just ran off without me even thanking him. and thats being a foreigner, could u believe this happening in malaysia? where people snatch whats yours, let alone you dropping something - you'd never see it again!

so yeah, dear government, PLS BAN MOTORBIKES. since u cant succeed in changing people's mentality anyway :p

about futsalities, played in my first friendly against telekom the other day (all this while i've only been playing for fun with both the guys and girls from my office) and this was like our first match. do the girls from telekom had their own coach (who doubled as our referree) and yellow "netball" jerseys and all la kan, and here we were wearing all diferent t-shirts etc. and yeah we lost 9-3.

but the best part was that i scored the first goal for maersk and the crowd went WILD.. cos all the guys were in teh sidelines and man, the roar that went up was so cool. i remember arvinth telling me that the crowd support is so good when you play cos it takes the players to a high when they score and its TRUE. it was so much fun i felt like somersaulting on the field (not that i know how, i would prob break my back or something). but man, the high was good. my first goal in a tourney :-) and i got the last goal too, i put in the first and last goal for maersk and the last goal of the match, which led to another roar. damn damn cun. i wanna play some more :-) it seriously didnt feel like we lost.. hahahaha..

well, been sick the whole of last wkend - like REALLY sick - fever cough cold sorethroat flue aches everything - and went to the doctor 3 times. the first one was a panel doc - totally hopeless cos i took 6 fever tablets throughout the day and nothing happened.

and when i went to my family doc the next day, she gave me a jab, sponged me, and sent for a bloodtest straightaway. and gave me super expensive antibiotics ($10/pill).. so blood test was fine and now i'm fine except for a little coughing. but i missed the job fair and the book fair, so screw the job fair (i'm retiring anyway) and i'll go to the book fair this wkend then.

have a nice wkend peeps :-)

What should we ban?

Since there's a new govt, i tot i'd better say my piece in case the powers that be come across my blog and suddenly sit up and take notice cos they've hit a brainwave (mine i mean).

First thing we should ban - MOTORBIKES. i bet the weaving in and out of traffic and mat rempits and snatch thefts would end as well. i mean, the amount of havoc i hv personally gone thru with motorbikes are enough to make my hair curl. oh wait, its already curly :p

but seriously. which brings us to another question - what would the ones who cant afford a car do? answer: take public transport. govt, pls take note. while the LRT is great, the monorail, komuter and bus services leave a lot to be desired. why not take a leaf out of singapore's MTR (or MRT) or London's tubes. in singapore, its understandable cos there is no land, and parking is ridiculously exorbitant. but in london where cars are comparatively cheaper, everyone STILL takes the tube cos its so convenient. thru rain and shine and snow and slush. i mean, with that kinda transportation system, even i wouldnt drive. maybe.

and then we would see the end of motorbikes. there's be less accidents, less dangerous scare tactics of carrying children in the basket in the front with another few pairs of legs hanging out either side of the motorbike at the back, less youngsters riding around without licences, helmets and brakelights. i mean, the list goes ON.

well i think its a good idea. especially uncivilised places. i will of course revert soon with more things to ban, but for now, i need to go change and get into my futsal gear to go kick some ass - well more like i'd get MY ass kicked. and my hair pulled. and my boobs punched. cat fight y'all.. :p

I Lurrrvvveee Darren

I mean it was such a fun night. We had Tony Romas shrimps and the onion loaf for dinner and went to see Darren scratching after that. ok ok full story then..

so yeah we go to our fave haunt for free drinks where they make the best pink ladies (of cos depends on the waiter also la), so that day, it just so happened that our fave waiter wasnt there. so we said hi to darren (the dj) who was at the console at that point and ordered our pink ladies from one of the waiters. and when the drinks came, they were a faaaaaaarrrr cry to what our fave waiter always treated us too - i mean it felt like there was NO ALCOHOL in it at all. so at first we were like "nvm la, we wont get too tipsy" but memang tak syok la.

so anyways we finished our drinks and got another round of pink ladies. and guess what? no alcohol AGAIN! so patience is a virtue right? so we sit thru and finish the second glass, tasted like guava juice or somthing and ABSOLUTELY no effect. then we call the waiter and order another round (the 3rd) and tell him specifically to add some booze in the juices :p ok oops but sounds vulgar.. anyways..

by this time, darren came and sat with us cos the band started playing again (the band just shouts too much - wonder how they have their voices still) and we told him that the pink ladies were NOT like the ones we were used to. and he tells us that our fave waiter is on leave.. sigh..
so then when we're talking to him, the waiter comes with our drinks. and guess what? they're not pink! they're brown. no dont ask. anyway we try it, and it wasnt too bad. it tasted EXACTLY like chocolate milkshake. and if you tried REALLY hard, you can prob make out the tinge of baileys in it.

so altho it wasnt THAT bad, again - NO ALCOHOL. now tell me, whats the point of having drinks when u might as well sit at the local mamak and have milo ais? ha?

so since darren was there with us, we told him la, that from the time we came, the drinks were what you would call in TGIF - virgin - like unadulated (correct word? or is it unadulterated? pure) untouched by alcohol. so then darren called the waiter over and when he came, he was like "kau kau kau kau kau".. and when we got our drinks back, the portion of alcohol was ridiculous. i mean, this was like get-stoned-after-a-sip kinda ridiculous.

so yeah. Tres loved it (if she says she didnt, she's in denial). but thing is when we mixed it with the pink ladies, it was NICE. the kind of nice you get from drinking and not realising you're drinking! but yeah..

then since we're the last ones leaving at the end, darren actually shows us how to scratch on his turntables and it was UBER COOL. so yeah, was a good way to spend a thursday night :-) or friday morning, whichever way you look at it.

and of COURSE i went to work the next day. i mean, i'm responsible :p
